Bate

Yesterday me and my family went to Bate.  It is on 860 Melrose Ave. Bronx, NY 10451 by Yankee stadium.  They serve West African food, from Guinea.  The people there were really nice and explained to us what we were eating.  It is small and on a corner.  On the wall is a big picture of a rope bridge.  Right beside the picture there is a TV.  You self order at the counter next to the TV.  To drink my family shared a ginger drink which tasted like pineapple juice and it looks like orange juice.  We also had lots of water because all the food was spicy.  To eat my family got Sauce Feuille which is cassava leaves, palm oil, and lamb meat.  I did not like this.  It had a weird taste.  My mom thinks it was the palm oil.

Another thing we got was Sauce Clare which is Fish, carrot, and tomato sauce.  I liked this.  The fish had the same feel and texture of chicken.  The fish in the soup was whole, only the head was removed.

My family also got 2 bowls of rice.  The cool thing about the rice was you could pour the different sauces on it.

The last thing my family got was Lamb Shigo which is 2 lamb shanks with acheke.  The lamb was tasty.  The acheke is like cassava cous cous.  A lamb shank looks like a mixture of a rib and a chicken leg.

So Bate is great place eat and try new things!

Nutella bar

Yesterday me and my family went to Eataly on 23rd and 5th.  One of the restaurants was a Nutella bar.  Inside there were 3 giant shelves full of big and small Nutella containers.  Let me tell you a story now.  Once upon a time in the 1940s lived a pastry chief named Mr. Pietro Ferrero.  Since cocoa was rationed (because of World War II), he added hazelnuts which was plentiful in north-west Italy where he lived.  And they all lived happily ever after.  I got crostatina, a mini tart filled with Nutella. It was good.  To drink I had a sparkling lemonade.  My sister and my mom had Bacio Di Dama, a hazelnut cookie sandwich put together with Nutella.   After that me and my family went to a gelato store.  I got salted caramel and lemon in a waffle cone.  My sister got chocolate, and my mom got lemon.  I can not believe I am saying this but ice cream is more healthy gelato.  There are many other stores in Eataly.  They sell hand made macaroni, sea food, and other foods you can get in Italy.

PLANK

Plank is an awesome sea food restaurant.  The address 1205 Howard St, Omaha, NE 68102.  I went with my cousins.
Inside there is a big TV on the wall.  An awesome skeleton of a big wooden ship is hanging from the ceiling.  Above the bar is a big lobster pot holding wine bottles.  The tiles on the wall were large subway tiles.  On them were oars, like from a rowboat.  Over head was the pipes and there is a open kitchen.
I tried some gumbo which my uncle ordered. Gumbo  is soup with roasted chicken, sausage, okra, and steamed rice.  The sausage in it were a little spicy.
I shared a fried oyster slider with my mom, I ate my half like the world was going to end. ha ha ha ha. It was between a buttered brioche bun, a bun dipped and soaked in butter a billion times.
I tried the prince Edward island mussels.  It is mussels sauteed with fennel, grape tomatoes, fresh basil, and white wine butter broth.  My sister and my cousin ate like there was no tomorrow. ha ha ha ha again.
I did not like the fish tacos because it was too spicy. My uncle said to try it with lime juice squeezed on it.  The tacos has beer battered white fish, slaw,  and pineapple.  P.S. My mom loved the fish tacos.
We got 20 oysters from the $1 oyster happy hour idea.  It was my second time trying raw oysters.  I slurped them up like crazy.
I spent a lot of time peeling my first shrimp from the peel 'N' eat shrimp.  They were boiled and tossed with old bay spice.
I tried the Poutine. It was fries with Wisconsin white cheddar cheese curds, and braised bacon gravy.  It was not good,...............IT WAS DELICIOUS.   After I ate it I said, "Poutine, where have you been all my life?"  It was a taste of heaven.
I really wanted to try the New England clam chowder and lots of other things on the menu but we were full.
So if you go to Nebraska, Plank is the place to eat.
