I am an almost fourteen year old kid who loves to eat. I started writing this blog when I was eight years old- I couldn't sit still in restaurants and all I wanted to order was chicken fingers. Now I've eaten a lot of interesting food and I love sharing my restaurant recommendations and experiences with people. Also, last summer I went to baking camp and now my family counts on me to bring different varieties of apple pies to events.

Bate
Yesterday me and my family went to Bate. It is on 860 Melrose Ave. Bronx, NY 10451 by Yankee stadium. They serve West African food, from Guinea. The people there were really nice and explained to us what we were eating. It is small and on a corner. On the wall is a big picture of a rope bridge. Right beside the picture there is a TV. You self order at the counter next to the TV. To drink my family shared a ginger drink which tasted like pineapple juice and it looks like orange juice. We also had lots of water because all the food was spicy. To eat my family got Sauce Feuille which is cassava leaves, palm oil, and lamb meat. I did not like this. It had a weird taste. My mom thinks it was the palm oil.
Another thing we got was Sauce Clare which is Fish, carrot, and tomato sauce. I liked this. The fish had the same feel and texture of chicken. The fish in the soup was whole, only the head was removed.
My family also got 2 bowls of rice. The cool thing about the rice was you could pour the different sauces on it.
The last thing my family got was Lamb Shigo which is 2 lamb shanks with acheke. The lamb was tasty. The acheke is like cassava cous cous. A lamb shank looks like a mixture of a rib and a chicken leg.
